About Me

About MeMy name is Stacy Dymalski and I’m an author, blogger, freelance writer, comedian, corporate speaker, filmmaker and busy mom of two teenage sons. Any more than that and I spontaneously combust.

My latest book is Confessions of a Band Geek Mom, a hilarious account of trying to get parenthood and career to coexist without somebody getting hurt. They seem to be polar opposites determined not to meet — sort like the north and south ends of two magnets. Yet we keep trying to bring them together; which is either a tribute to the human spirit or the revelation of human thickheadedness. I haven’t figured out which it is yet, but when I do I’ll let you know.

In addition writing books, I also have some film credits (as a producer, director, screenwriter), however they’re too long and laborious to mention here. But if you’re dying to get to know them up close and personal, feel free to check out my IMDB page.

Also here’s a piece of trivia for you. In 2012 I was a finalist in the Toastmasters Humorous Speech Contest and a semi-finalist in the Toastmasters International Speech Contest, in which I competed for the title of World Champion of Public Speaking. My award-winning speech, “Wynton Marsalis Had My Back” is the flagship chapter and title of my new book of humorous essays coming out in Fall 2014.

And as if I haven’t already taken up enough of your valuable time, please go to the Confessions of a Band Geek Mom Facebook fan page and LIKE it. We have a raucous good time on there yakking about everything from the value of a good wine (or whine) after a hard day, to wet, moldy towels fermenting on the bathroom floor. (Fermenting is a common theme with us.)

Also, please follow me on Twitter because I get tired of talking to myself on the Internet.

But wait! There’s more!

As a stand-up comic, I rely heavily on the approval of others. So if you have a second, please click on the banner below to vote for me as a Top Mommy Blogger on TopMommyBlogger.com. If you feel uncomfortable doing so, because you haven’t read any of my blog posts, then get off your duff and do it. There are enough of my witty posts on this blogsite to waste your time between now and Tuesday (provided it’s Wednesday when you’re reading this), so get a wiggle on. THEN click on the banner to vote for me as a top Mommy Blogger. I don’t win anything except a higher search engine ranking, plus bragging rights to my kids that I’m not as dorky as they think. (Okay, well maybe I am that dorky, but at least I’ll be easier to find on the Web.)

Love your blog! I actually had tears in my eyes when I read about the “super duper poopers”! My sons too (now 23 and 20) would have done anything in their power to remove such an asinine display! Thanks for the laugh. Looking forward to reading more of your stuff! :-)

You should’ve seen my teenage sons when I was writing this! I told them about it before I posted and they were panicked that I would find those stickers and put one on our car. They know their mom would do almost ANYTHING for a laugh. Of course, I would never deface our family car with such drivel, but I had fun for a little while making them sweat. (Hee hee, I’m so bad.)

Thank you so much for your kind words about my blog. I appreciate you stopping by and hope you do come back in the future for more laughs.

I’m new to the Blogging Universe and your blog is the first I’ve read. I lucked out! I love it. Your humor is so down to earth… thanks for a great late night read.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it and that you liked it enough to comment. Thank you so much, it’s always nice to get feedback.

At the risk of sounding presumptuous, if you like my blog, then you’ll also love my book “Confessions of a Band Geek Mom” which is more of the same, but in longer chapter book format. You can get it on Amazon in either hard copy book or Kindle formats at http://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Band-Geek-Mom-exhausted/dp/0615474993/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1304446183&sr=1-1.

Thanks again for your kind words about my post. I really appreciate it! (And I hope you come back for more laughs in the future.)

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you stopped by and checked out my blog (and that you like it). Yes, I like the green background, too. I think it gives it nice contrast, plus green is my favorite color!

I appreciate the feedback and hope you come back in the future. I’m always good for some laughs. :-D

      1. susiwardhani

Awesome blog! Now I’m going to try to get my hands on that book.

    1. Stacy Dymalski

Thanks! I would love it if you read my book! If you like my blog, I think you’ll enjoy “Confessions of a Band Geek Mom.” I promise it will make you giggle at least once or twice (or maybe even more).

And thanks for your comment. I always appreciate it when people take the time to comment. Time is your only non-renewable resource, so when you give some of it to me, that means a lot. :-)

  5. heart, hopes, and dreams

I just came across your blog while browsing this evening and was cracking up at the super dooper pooper stickers you talked about in your blog. That is too funny!!! I’m sure we were all excited for our kids to achieve such an accomplishment when they were younger, but who would want that sticker on their car to tell the world about it? I can remember when I was a child my mother had bumper stickers on her car “way back when” but thankfully none were ever embarassing like that (Thank God!!)

Looking forward to following your blog:)

    1. Stacy Dymalski

Thank you for kind words about my blog post. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Yes, when I saw that Super Duper Pooper sticker on the back end of a car I could NOT believe we’d come to this in civilized society! Really? Is it that we’ve simply run out of things to brag about when it comes to our kids? Here’s the bumper sticker I want to see: “My kid cured cancer.” Okay, now THAT would be something to advertise on your bumper!

Thanks again for stopping by my blog and for commenting. I really appreciate the feedback and home you come back again soon!

  6. Sarah Harris

Although I haven’t been blog following for so long, I know you’re going to bring a lot more sunshine and giggles into my day! I nominated you for Sunshine Award!

    1. Stacy Dymalski

Thank you so much for nominating me for The Sunshine award, Sarah. I really appreciate it! I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you about it. It was a crazy week last week when my blog appeared on FP. I didn’t even know it was on there until I started getting all these comments from people congratulating me for being on FP. That’s how I found out! And I’ve been trying to respond to as many comments as I can since then.

So my next post will be about receiving this award. I need to start gathering my nominees now!

      Thanks again!

      1. Sarah Harris

No worries! I can only imagine (and dream) about what being Freshly Pressed must bring to your day! Good for you for responding to everyone!

  7. Doug's BoomerRants

I was going to say, “Great Site!”, when it’s not really the site but you as the person who is behind it all. I like your humor! So… I will follow you, and in the meantime read your work to remember what it was like back when I had three “impossibles” to raise (female in the middle). Back in the early oo’s (tough to get used to this new millenium lingo.. even 12 years into it) I wrote a series of four ditties about family life for some publication that has since gone defunct. You might find the subjects worth pondering.

    http://dougsboomerrants.wordpress.com/category/boomer-life-family/past-parenting-posts/

That’s the category in which they are listed. Not sure how to link it in here but maybe you can just copy & paste to the browser if you are so inclined.
Anyway… thanks for giving me a smile and making me reflect back. :)

  8. Stacy Dymalski

Thanks, Doug! I appreciate your nice comments about my writing! I enjoy yours, too, and read your blog as often as I can! Sometimes I get overloaded on other things and then have to catch up on a bunch of your posts all at once, but I do read (and like) them.

Thanks for you link so some of your past family adventures. I especially love the one on your family’s garbage. Yes, it is amazing how much garbage we produce now–mainly because everything now has to be “safely packaged” to within an inch of its life! If I have to break into one more hermetically-sealed bottle of aspirin I might die of a stroke before I can get the darn thing open!

Keep up the great observations. I love your perspective.

  9. Kayi and Zara

Although we’ve just come across your blog, I’ve read it most thoroughly already and I’ve nominated you for One Lovely Blog . You’ve given me a laugh especially your comments on family life , many of which ring true. Phillipa

    1. Stacy Dymalski

Thanks! Wow, what an honor. I’m so happy that you enjoy my blog enough to give me an award. I look forward to reading you blog on a regular basis, as well!

  10. Miriam

    You are so funny!
I had all these plans to get all kinds of things done while my baby napped–and then I found your blog. I don’t know where the last hour has gone, but I have been laughing nonstop! And it has been great! Thanks so much!

    1. Stacy Dymalski

Thanks, Miriam! You have absolutely made my day! I really appreciate your kind comment. You never know who reads these posts when you put them out there in cyberspace, so to get your wonderful feedback is the little encouragement I need to keep going. I’m so glad that you’re enjoying my blog and that you find me funny.

And at the risk of being self-promotive, if you like my blog, you’ll love my book “Confessions of a Band Geek Mom”. Since you have a baby, you will totally relate to it. It’s a collection of funny parenting stories that start from when my oldest was born, all the way up until he turned 16 and I taught him to drive. (I have two teenage sons, 17 and 14.) It also makes a great gift for grandparents and friends with kids. You can find it on Amazon at: http://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Band-Geek-Mom-exhausted/dp/0615474993/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1344712708&sr=1-1&keywords=confessions+of+a+band+geek+mom

      or on Kindle at: http://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Band-Geek-Mom-ebook/dp/B005IAQ02Y/ref=kinw_dp_ke

Thanks again, Miriam, for taking the time to read my blog and comment. I’m thrilled that you like it! :-)

  11. Miriam

I’ll definitely check out your book!
